weston fails to start on imx8 mini when using MX8-DSI_OLED1A

I am using the wayland imx-image-full image with chromium added
If I use the mipi hdmi dongle things work swimmingly and can verify chromium works


I tried: 
U-Boot > setenv fdt_file fsl-imx8mq-evk-dcss-rm67191.dtb
U-Boot > run bootcmd

however it fails on boot and manually starting weston does not succeed:
