i tried to build a new image via Yocto. i build base-core-image with iproute2, i2c-tools, libsocketcan and canutils included (same with fsl-image-gui). On Start-Up there is always a failure "pca953x 2-0032: failed writing register". But on the schematic of Sabre AI i can't see any pca953x Controller. The i2c Portexpanders are max7310!
Same failure comes up if i type "ip link set can0 up type can bitrate 125000"
In my opinion it seems like that the Controller will write to a Portexpander but there is an other configurated?!

I've seen this failure too on posts in the Forum but there were no Solution for it!
Hope anyone can help me

Hi,
I was also running into this issue. I am using U-Boot 2914.07-rc4 and I found a problem there. In mx6qsabreauto.c the function mx6sabre_rev() was returning the wrong revision to the Linux kernel. My board is based on Revision D which is not known by U-Boot. So U-Boot is returning Revision A per default. Try to change like:
reg = reg >> 8 & 0x0F; |
switch (reg) {
case 0x01:
ret = BOARD_REV_A; | |
break; |
case 0x02:
default:
ret = BOARD_REV_B; | |
break; |
}
Now the Linux kernel will use PAD configuration of revision B. This helps for me.
BR,
Daniel
Hi controlx
seems max7310 just uses linux gpio expander driver pca953x.
Errors may occur since it is not fully compatible with pca953x
(some registers may be absent), however one can safely ignore them.
Best regards
igor
