imx6ul boot from sd card in spi mode

Hi,

i'm fresh out of SDHCI interfaces (used for eMMC, WLAN) but still need to add a SD card to the system. Transaction speed is not really an issue in this case.

So the following questions arise:

1. can i.MX6UL execute uboot from a SD card in SPI mode?

2. can uboot started from eMMC boot a linux system from SD card in SPI mode?

Best regards,

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

Yes, The i.Mx6UL can boot form SPI, and if uboot started from eMMC you don't need the SDcard.

Hi,

i'm aware that the i.Mx6UL can boot from SPI, at least from SPI flashes, my question is whether it can boot from a SD card in SPI mode.

SD card boot is interesting in our use case when the image living in eMMC is corrupted (fallback or factory reset) or if the customer wants to boot his own image during development. So i can very well have a uboot in eMMC booting an image from SD card.

Best regards,

Ralf
