Hi,
I understand iMX8MPlus supports 2 x 4 lane MIPI CSI-2, i.e. it supports 2 camera each with 4 lane MIPI CSI-2. Can it support a single camera (single image sensor) that requires 2 x 4 lane MIPI CSI-2?
each imx8mp mipi csi can support up to 4 lane, couldn't support 8 lane, but could you tell me what camera needs 8 lane?
Hi Joan,
I understand each MIPI can support up to 4 lanes.
Can I combine both MIPI 4 lanes to handle a single image sensor that requires 2 x 4 lanes MIPI CSI interface? One example is OMNIVISION’s OV13870. Can iMX8M Plus support this OMNIVISION image sensor? Can the iMX8M Plus merge data from both the MIPI interface to become a single image? Or it will always treat both MIPI interface as 2 separate images?
Usually image sensors with higher number of pixels (> 10MPix) will require more than 4 lanes due to the speed limitation of each lane.
Can iMX8M Plus support this OMNIVISION image sensor?
>yes, current bsp supports ov2775 and ov5640 as default
Usually image sensors with higher number of pixels (> 10MPix) will require more than 4 lanes due to the speed limitation of each lane.
>imx8mp mipi csi can support 1.5Gx4=6Gbps, if your sensor is 10M@30, this is 10x30x16=4.8G<6G, and you can current ISP can support up to 12M camera, so I don't think you need use dual mipi csi to one camera
imx8mp doesn't support vc
Hi Joan,
What about OV13870. Can it be supported?
There are sensors with much higher resolution (eg 20MP) and they need 2 x 4 MIPI lanes per sensor.
Can iMX8M Plus support such sensors?
unfortunately imx8mp couldn't support this
