iMX7 Solo is capable to run Android 7.0.1?

We are just in System design level.

Our planned Software is Android 7.0.1 and selected SoC is iMx7 Solo and Dual due to low power.

iMX7 solo is- ARM Cortex-A7 @ 800MHz

iMX7 Dual is- ARM Cortex-A7 dual core @1.2GHz

in NXP Android 7.0.1 guide they mentioned just iMX7 Dual in supported SoC and they not included iMX7 Solo.

I like to know whether we can run Android 7.0.1 in iMX7 Solo (Cortex-A7 @ 800MHz) or its not capable to run Android due low ARM core and clock speed?

Thanks

Hi igor,

Thanks for you reply and by your reply i understand two things,

1. iMX7 solo is capable to run the Android 7.0.1

2. We can validate and evaluate Android 7.0.1 for iMX7 Solo using iMX7D SABRE board by activating only one core and adjusting voltage by following your steps and using the reference manual.

Have NXP validated the Android 7.0.1 in iMX7 Solo or validated only iMX7D?

Thanks

Sangili

Hi sangili

as there is no iMX7 Solo reference board it is unlikely that Android 7.0.1 was validated with it.

Hi sangili

not, as on nxp i.MX7D Sabre board PCIMX7D7DVM10 is used 1.0GHz,

for using Solo@ 800MHz one can add "maxcpus=1" to kernel boot line

and adjust linux drivers settings which may change cpu voltage vs frequency

for example i.MX7D with operation between 800 MHz and 1 GHz can change VDD_ARM.

One can use attached Linux Manual Chapter 23 CPU Frequency Scaling (CPUFREQ) Driver.
