i.MX8Mplus: How to deal with unused CSI-Lanes

Hi!

in our Design, we use 2 CSI-cameras, each using a 2-channel configuration. This means, MIPI_CSIx_D2_x and MIPI_CSIx_D3_x are unused.

On our first board revision, the unused data lines were shorted to GND. This seems to work. But as far as I can see, this case is not covered in the "hardware design guide" (NXP: IMX8MPHDG).

I don't know what happens, if Linux accidentally uses shorted CSI-Lanes, or if the CSI block applies a DC-Offest, which would be shorted in this case.

Since we need to do a new 2. revision anyway, this would be a good time to correct a potential problem.

Therefore my question: What is the correct way to deal with unused lanes in an used CSI-Interface?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi @max123,

Out of the 4x MIPI-CSI lanes, if only 2x lanes are used, it is recommended to connect the other 2x lanes' pins to GND for proper operation.

Thanks & Regards,
