My name is KATA_KAN, and I am involved in software development for boards using i.MX8M Mini.
Currently, I am being asked by a customer about the video playback specs of the board, so I am investigating the video playback specs of the i.MX8M Mini.
During the investigation, please ask questions about points that were not clear from the datasheet or reference manual.
- Bitrate
Bitrate was described in the reference manual's Table15-7 as follows.
However, there was no mention of Variable bitrate(VBR) or Constant bitrate(CBR) here.
Is it correct to understand that VBR and CBR are controlled by software such as gstreamer, so the chip side is not involved?
- Frame rate
Frame rate was described in the reference manual's Table15-7 as follows.
After "Unlimited by the hardware" is written, the frame rate of the VP8 and H.264 codecs is written, but is it correct to understand that there is no frame rate limit for VP9 and H.265?
Also, there are no Variable Frame Rate(VFR) or Constant Frame Rate(CFR) settings listed here.
Is it correct to understand that VFR and CFR are controlled by software such as gstreamer, so the chip side is not involved?
- Codec
Codec was described in the data sheet's Table1 as follows.
Is this correct with the statement that it supports the following codecs?
HEVC/H.265 Encoder/Decoder
AVC/H.264 Encoder/Decoder
VP9 Encoder/Decoder
VP8 Encoder/Decoder
