We are interested in the i.MX 8QuadMax for TDM audio interfacing purposes.
We have received conflicting information through support tickets, compared to the reference manual.
Please confirm or correct the following assumptions:
- All 4 external SAI interfaces (SAI0-3) can be used simultaneously, as per the pin assignment tables
- All 4 external SAI interfaces (SAI0-3) are capable of running at 24.576 MHz and can be slaved, as per the electrical characteristics
- All 4 external SAI interfaces (SAI0-3) are capable of TDM mode operation, as per the reference manual
- All 4 external SAI interfaces (SAI0-3) are capable of receiving 32 Bit of data per word, and allow for a maximum 32 words per frame, as per the reference manual
This should allow us to receive 64 channels of audio data, TX is not required:
- All 4 SAI (0-3) used
- Each SAI comprised of one RX lane
- Each lane running at 24.576 MHz (32 Bit * 48000 Hz * 16 channels), carrying 16 channels
- Each FIFO on each RX lane is connected via a DMA channel to eDMA0, resulting in 4 active DMA channels
Please be so kind and confirm or correct these assumptions.
Thank you very much!
