Hello,

I'm using i.MX 8M Plus evaluation kit. Testing 2 channel LPDDR4 device is fine. However, configuring 1 channel LPDDR4 is difficult because the channel-A of i.MX8MP side is connected to channel-B of LPDDR4 side based on the schematic. How can I configure one channel LPDDR4 in this swapped channel assignment?

Thanks.

Hi @jekim,

That do not mean the IMX8M Plus can't test 1-channel LPDDR4 device, for the i.MX8MP support 1 channel LPDDR4 device, I mean you can not do the test on the i.MX8MP EVK board NXP supply.

Any questions contact us freely

Wish you have a nice day

Best Regards

Rita

As the LPDDR4 on the i.MX 8M Plus evaluation kit have 2 channels, if you just want to configure it to run one channel, for the board maybe it can not work and met some issue.

Why do you want to do this test? You just want to run 16bit lpddr4 on the i.MX8MP?

Hello @Rita_Wang ,

There are both kinds of devices in this market. Some users need single channel lpddr4 instead of two channel lpddr4. So, the device just has only one channel.

If imx8m plus doesn't have the swapped channel assignment, testing single channel device could be ok. Can you find a way to configure imx8m plus as single channel?

Thanks.

For the i.MX8MP support single chanel and 16bits width.

It supports 16 bit width and supports the original type, but it does not support those byte modes that make up 16 bits
Byte-mode LPDDR4 devices (x16 channel internally split between two dies, x8 each) of any density are not supported therefore, the numbers are applicable only to devices with x16 internal organization (referred to as "standard" in the JEDEC specification).

On our evk board can not test it.

You can try modify as this and test, but it will have issue

Hello @Rita_Wang ,

The excel RPA is configured as below. When a 2-channel chip is mounted, DDR tool completes the training successfully. However, DDR tool immediately failed training with the 1-channel chip as attached log file. As I mentioned before, IMX8MP A and B channel are swapped to lpddr4. 1-channel lpddr4 doesn't have B-channel corresponds to IMX8MP A-channel. How to overcome this with a customized configuration?

Thanks.

I know your setting, due to the hardware design, so you can not test one channel on our EVK board. But for customer can use the  16 bit width desgin, it will be ok and no problmem on the i.MX8MP.

Hello @Rita_Wang ,

Do you conclude that IMX8M Plus can't test 1-channel LPDDR4 device?

Thanks.

The RPA setting was not attached. I uploaded the RPA capture again.
