how to change the yocto splash?

I create a new layer, and create a new folder psplash, in the folder have psplash_git.bbappend:

FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend := "${THISDIR}/files:"

SPLASH_IMAGES_append = "file://psplash-poky-img.h;outsuffix=default"

the change is right?

bitbake fsl-image-gui-cao

I could change the splash, but when I provide a .png, the make-image-header.sh always make the result image incline to right.
