changes in uboot(yocto) source are not reflecting on board(apalis-imx6q)

Hi community,

i am trying to test a change in uboot that in uboot source file(apalis_imx6q.c) when i removed "sd-card" configuration and after that i have compiled(without error) it, i noticed that my board is getting boot properly so i just wanted to ask why this changes are not reflecting back on the board and  i am just trying to learn that if i wanted to do some changes in uboot then how it will be that is why i did this. please let me know if i have do some more additional changes or does it take any default configuration.
