Dear all,

Does HW VPU of i.MX6 support the Visual Microsoft MPEG4?
(Extension of this file is ".avi".)

I referred to a data sheet and a reference manual, but was not able to find this.

Best Regards,
Yuuki

refer to the vpu reference manual, VPU codec is fully compliant with H.264 BP/MP/HP, VC-1 SP/MP/AP, MPEG-4 SP/ASP except GMC, DivX (Xvid), MPEG-1/2, VP8, AVS and MJPEG decoding and H.264, MPEG-4, H.263, and MJPG encoding.

Dear Joan Xie-san,

Microsoft MPEG4 (MS-MPEG4) is slightly different from MPEG4.
Please refer to the following URL.

ok, you mean MSMPEG4,right, for vpu, refer to the RM. just support MPEG4,not msmpe4, but for bsp, maybe can support microsoft codec, but if you need to get it, which depends the bsp version and licence.

Dear Joan Xie-san,

Thank you for your reply.

We installed Limited Access Packages.
WMV and WMA can be played back.

However, MSMPEG4 was not able to be played back.

We understood that VPU did not support MSMPEG4.

Best Regards,
Yuuki
