I'm developing video players with imx8mq, fsl-imx-xwayland environment.
The "imx8 gstreamer user guide" document provided by nxp states that imx8 supports waylandsink, glimagesink, and kmssink.
And the hardware reference document for the imx8mq board states that the imx8mq board supports up to 4k60p (for videos using vp9, h265 codecs).
When the fsl-imx-xwayland kernel image is first installed, the Weston default value is 1920x1080@60, and when the 4K60p video is played with wayland sink, the frame-rate is 60fps well (in this case, of course HDMI output is 1920x1080@60).
The problem is as follows:
If I modify the resolution setting at /etc/xdg/weston.ini to 3840x2160@60, and play the 4K60p video with HDMI output on the 4K panel, the frame-rate drops to 30fps. Like wayland sink, the frame-rate of the glimage sink also falls, and the basic resolution of the kms sink is fixed at 1920x1080.
The questions are as follows.
1. Even if the imx8mq processor supports codecs for 4K60p videos, if output is supported up to 1920x1080, 4K quality videos cannot be output, right?
2. If I change the wayland default setting from 1920x1080@60 to 3840x2160@60, should I change other additional settings?
