Hi. I want to know what LF prefix means in front of the Linux releases. All ı found is a link in which they discuss about NXP acronyms/abbreviations: https://lore.kernel.org/yocto-meta-freescale/DBBPR04MB7753FA1F20D2AFBC37460E0FE2A29@DBBPR04MB7753.eu...

here is the excerpt:

MLK - MCU Linux Kernel
MA - MCU Android
LFU - Linux Factory U-boot
LF - Linux Factory
MMFMWK - MultiMedia Framework (guessing on the meaning of FMWK)
MGS - MCU GPU

Is there any documentation (pdf etc) related such acronyms ? What means Linux Factory? Does it mean a software team??

Best Regards.

Hi @HEXER ,

I hope you're having a great day. LF does stand for Linux Factory. This term is usually used to differentiate Linux releases (like our BSPs) from official Linux releases. So, you may not only see NXP using this term for their respective releases, but other companies too.

Regarding acronyms, usually when dealing with certain documentation there's a dedicated section for acronyms used within that same document. For i.MX Linux related acronyms I'd suggest reviewing the i.MX Linux Reference Manual that corresponds to a specific release. On our latest BSP, this can be found in section 1.2.2 Definitions, Acronyms, and Abbreviations. (i.MX Linux Reference Manual (nxp.com))

For more broad terms, NXP has a free ebook called Essentials of Edge Computing which contains a glossary with more common acronyms. This book acan be found here: Essentials of Edge Computing eBook | NXP Semiconductors.

Let me know if this information was of any help.

Best regards,
Hector.

Hi, thanks for replying.

as a matter of fact, i was referring to Acronyms and Abbreviations which you didn't explained in your documents like LF and others as i mentioned.

I have read read the i.MX Linux Reference Manual but i couldnt find such acronyms and abbreviations.

I need such technical terms meaning rather than broad terms.

Best regards.
