I am comparing the i.MX 8 M Plus to the LS1046A and specifically wanted to know the difference between the two different security modules. I know both seem to have crypto accelerators and HW RNG's. Both also seem to allow secure boot but is there something that one has over the other.

Hello,

They are products focused to different segments for which it would be helpful to check your target application + the security features of your interest. For the security features, you may refer to the following documentation.

For LS1046A, please refer to the security reference manual, chapter 3.2 (Cryptographic engines implemented in SEC): https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/reference-manual/LS1046ASECRM.pdf

i.MX8M Plus, the security features are described in table 1 -> Security (Subsystem field): https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/IMX8MPIEC.pdf

Hope it helps!

BR,

Ivan.
