Thanks for your reply Igor.
So in summary, 5.4.2.1.-imx branch (https://github.com/Freescale/linux-fslc/tree/5.4-2.1.x-imx) is from the Freescale official Release BSP 

and the 5.4+fslc branch (https://github.com/Freescale/linux-fslc/tree/5.4.x+fslc) is Freescale community BSP.
Is that correct?

strictly speaking nxp official linux ["Freescale official Release BSP"] is on  source.codeaurora.org/external/imx/linux-imx repository
