What is the Cactus player for in the i.MX6 Freescale Android BSP?

We are working on a project to support a new customer wanting to develop a media player using Android and the i.MX6Q.   They are seeing several media players in the BSP including a Freescale developed Media Player called Cactus.  There does not appear to be any documentation on Cactus.  Why is Cactus player in the Freescale Android BSP?

Cactus player is used to demo our multimedia extended features:

• Trick mode playback (fast forward, fast rewind)
• Multiple audio track selection at run time
• Subtitle and selection
