Hi community,

Our partner have a question about i.MX6SDL IPU CSI.

Please see page 2818 in IMX6SDLRM Rev.2, it shows the following sentence.

Unpacking and companding capabilities are provided for up to two streams (either through same or different interfaces), while the other ones are treated as generic data.

Then, we don't understand what is "unpacking and companding capabilities".

Would you kindly let us know what is it?

Best Regards,

Satoshi Shimoda

Hi Satoshi

"unpacking and companding capabilities" mean usage

Data Packing Unit described in Figure 38-15 CSI Block Diagram

and Table 38-16 Packing Unit, that is input data can be unpacked -

converted to a IPU common internal  8/16-bit  format. Unpacked data

with more than 8 bits per sample may be optionally companded,

generating 8-bit samples. Description is given in sect.38.4.3.5 Companding.

Best regards

igor
