Validity check of Certificates in HAB

How does the validity of certificate checked in  High Assurance boot?

As part of creating the certificates in CST, we are providing an option for validity of certificates. If the validity of the certificate expired, how does the HAB figure it out? I believe HAB does not have access to real time clock  module.
