Hello,
I am reaching out regarding DDR calibration needs arising from a change in the LPDDR4 RAM part used with the NXP i.MX8MM SoM. I would greatly appreciate your guidance in validating the new RAM part.
The NXP i.MX8MM SoM in our CAP product line previously utilized the Kingston B1621PM1WDGTKW-U LPDDR4 RAM. This part has been substituted with the Kingston B1621PM2FDGUKW-U LPDDR4 RAM.(I have attached both datasheets for your reference as well.) My current focus is to validate whether the new RAM part is fully compatible with the SoM without requiring changes to the existing RAM calibration parameters.
Validation Process and Results
I conducted a stress test using the NXP MScale DDR Tool with the default DDR script on both SoM modules. The stress test passed successfully for both SoMs with the original and substitute RAM parts. For your reference, I have attached the following files indicating the test & results:
I have also performed overnight test and it passed as well.
Request for Guidance
Could you please advise if any additional tests should be performed to ensure that the new RAM part is fully compatible with the SoM? These further tests regarding DDR, will help us identify if any changes are required in the DDR calibration parameters in the SPL U-Boot image?
Hello,
There are no additional steps needed, once you configured your RPA/Config Tools for i.MX DDR tool according to the new RAM configuration to create the initialization and timing scripts and pass the stress tests you need to integrate it to build your images.
If your board passes the tests and boots/operates normally, there are no additional steps to follow.
Best regards.
