Use PCIe X1 for M.2 NVMe SSD

Hi, All

Is it possible to use the mini PCIe in iMX7D SABRD to connect an M.2 nvme ssd, with an adapter of course? The M.2 nvme module can be either PCIe X2 key B+M, or PCIe X4 key M. As my understanding, PCIe X1 should be work with these modules with lower speed which is fine enough in embedded applications.

Thanks for help in advance.

Hi Cheng

yes, since i.MX7D has PCI Express port (PCIe) v. 2.1 with one lane

seems there should be no problems for using that device.

I have tested the SSD M.2 nvme ssd, with an  adapter mini-PCIE to M2 on iMX7D SABRD but doesn't work.

Any idea?

I tried different M.2 SSD on Sabre board with mini-PCIE to M.2 adaptor.

- Kingston A1000 - can be detected and work normal.

- Western Digital SN520 - can't be detected

- Foresee P900F128G - can't be detected.

Please advise what's wrong!

Which mini-PCIE to M.2 adapter have you used? Could you please send me a product link of this adapter?

Thank you very much.

Best regards
