Updating the M-Core image without the bootloader (iMX8ULP)

Hi,
I want to update the M-core image without modifying the bootloader. Typically, the flash.bin file contains components such as the AHAB container, UPower firmware, U-Boot, and the M-core binary. However, I only want to update the M-core image, not the bootloader or other components.

Is it possible to do this?

If yes how can I make that image and how can I flash it?

Thanks,
RDS

Hi Harvey,
I have already gone through that reference manual, but unfortunately, it does not contain the section for i.MX8ULP (section 4.7.4).

I did find some community posts mentioning that on i.MX93, we can use remoteproc to update the M-core image from the A-core. I’m wondering if someone has already patched this functionality into the i.MX8ULP, and whether we can use it now?

Here are links for those posts:

As you can see the support from the update-the-M33-firmware-using-remoteproc-on-iMX8ULP

With checking internal team, so far, no definitive reply for our BSP.
