HI,

I was trying to boot the imx7 board with EMMC by following the below steps but unable to flash with mfg tool and not selecting the EMMC as default boot device.

Step1: Downloaded the pre-built images from the NXP site

Package name:"android_O8.0.0_1.0.0_image_7dsabresd1.tar

Step2: Downloaded the flash tool package(L4.9.11_1.0.0-ga_mfg-tools.tar)

Step3: Copied the required images inside the flash tool package

path: /Profile/Linux/OS Firmware/files/android/"images"

Step4: Connected the EMMC chip to the board and Ran the MFG tool

Note: the device is connected and we are able to see the device in the list to flash from MFG tool

Step5: Start flashing from MFG tool but flash is not finishing and we are getting the errors.

Note: Modified the cfg file to select the MMC2

error logs:

Hi janardhan

usually mfg tool is started clicking on appropriate *.vbs file for associated

board, for example for i.MX6Q Sabre SD - mfgtool2-android-mx6q-sabresd-emmc.vbs.

There is no such script for i.MX7D Sabre SD, one can create it using above as example

and add appropriate record to ucl2.xml: <LIST name="eMMC-...

Pay attention to differencies in parameters (emmc on i.MX6Q Sabre SD is SD4, on

i.MX7D Sabre SD - SD3) "soc=6q","mmc=3" - they should be changed for i.MX7D

case to "soc=7d","mmc=2".

Best regards
igor

We tried to flash the image by manual steps using dd commands.

now the kernel is loading but the system partition is not mounting to load android.

please find the logs below:

Hi Igor,

Thanks for the inputs, we tried the changes with script but still facing the same issues in flashing. and we are unable to write the data into mmcblk2boot0 and mmcblk2 partitions as well

Hi Igor,

I have made created a vb script for imx7d emmc and with this emmc is getting flashed but its flashing some other files system and not the android images which is kept in the path mfgtools\Profiles\Linux\OS Firmware\files\android\sabresd

After flashing the system is not boot to kernel and says some mmc failures.

Any further modifications required in the MFG tool for flashing android images to emmc.

Regards

Fasil
