Hello everyone,

I'm interested in learning more about the current state of virtualization technology, particularly for the i.MX 8QuadMax MEK platform and type 1 hypervisors. I've noticed that the latest imx Yocto release that seems to support Xen is the L5.4.70 release and I'm curious why Xen support was dropped for later releases. Are there any plans to bring it back in future releases?

Additionally, I noticed that the i.MX Yocto Project User Guide only lists support for i.MX 8M Plus, i.MX 8M Nano, i.MX 8M Quad EVK, and i.MX 8M Mini EVK boards for Jailhouse. Is it possible to adapt Jailhouse for the i.MX 8QuadMax MEK, or are there technical limitations?

In general, what are the current options for running Linux and Android as guest operating systems on the i.MX 8QuadMax MEK, aside from using older releases?

Thank you all for your time and insights.

Best regards.

Hello @phiav

1. Are there any plans to bring it back in future releases?

There is not information about if Xen will be supported again for i.MX 8QuadMax.

2. Is it possible to adapt Jailhouse for the i.MX 8QuadMax MEK, or are there technical limitations?

It is recommended to use BSPs that supports virtualization for i.MX 8QuadMax.

Best regards!
