The schematic diagram of i.mx8mini has been redesigned by my cst .

At present, the customer board has a particularly high power consumption and overheating protection, but the root cause of the problem has not been identified. Please help review the schematic design of the customer. The customer wants to have feedback by this Thursday, so that they can modify it by Friday at the latest. Thank your very much for Team support !

Hi chunhuanchen‌,

Please see the below comments, which can help you.

  • Have you checked the Impedance of the board? Please check.
  • What is the ideal current consumption?
  • How many currents consumed in an existing board?
  • How many cores are you using @ what frequency?

Some of the schematic comments:

  • Any specific reason to connect GND connection on signal IO and differential/single-ended Io to GND on U705
  • Any specific reason to high-speed IO swapped for PCIe, USB, CSI and DSI Interfaces.
  • JTAG_nTRST require pull-up for 10K
  • DDR4 2GB: Any specific reason not to follow the DDR4 pin interface the same as EVK. While the rest of the interfaces are matching.

Yuri‌,

Can you please share your points here for our understanding?

Regards,

Mrudang

Hello, mrudang.shelat@volansystech.com

My comments refer to some internal considerations; but in general:

The design is very similar to NXP reference one, but is based  on PMIC PCA9450;

basically  it meets the i.MX8Mm  Hardware Development  Guide recommendations.

As for power consumption and thermal considerations, please refer to
AN12410 (i.MX 8M Mini Power Consumption Measurement)

https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/application-note/AN12410.pdf

Regards,

Yuri.

hi Yuri,

Thanks for your replay. This is the same customer. At present, the customer has finished the board, but the power consumption is particularly large. In view of this problem, can you help them confirm the schematic diagram and see if there is a problem. Thanks very much!
