Hello everybody,

I have a quick question for you. Since the iMX93 has two different Ethernet interfaces, with two MDIO and MDC lines, can I use the same PHY address on two different Ethernet PHY (for example 0x0 on both devices)? I saw that imx93_evk uses different Phy address (001 and 010) but I don't understand why it should be mandatory.

Thanks,

Bob

Hello @Bob_NXP_user

I hope you are doing very well.

Yes, you can use the same PHY address (e.g. 0x0) on both Ethernet PHYs in i.MX93, as long as each is connected to its own MDIO bus (separate MDC/MDIO lines). The addresses only need to be unique per bus, not across the whole system.

For good practice, it is recommended to use different PHY addresses, but not really necessary in this case.

Best regards,

Salas.
