Dear iMX8M Hardware Experts,

I would like to have your confirmation about the possibility to use Rohm BD71847AMWV-E2 as PMIC for the iMX8M Plus platform as there seems to be no explicit info about this combination except for iMX8M Mini/Nano.

Thanks and advance,

Khang

You can not use the BD71847AMWV-E2 for iMX8MP, use the NXP PCA9450C in our reference design.

Hello Rita,
We developed a board using BD71847 with IMX8MP. So, there is no way to start the board? Why we cannot use BD71847, is it depends on ROM software?

BD71847AMWV - Data Sheet, Product Detail | ROHM.com

It is used for the i.MX8MM, it won’t boot automatically unless you configure the PMIC correctly and ensure the ROM sees the expected power-up behavior.

This is not a ROM limitation, but rather a hardware and software integration task.
So in your deisgn, recommend you to use the PMIC we recommend will be better.

We (working with DR_Akzhol) used BD71847AMWV on the product prototype to power the IMX8MP by combining BUCK1 and BUCK5. It started up and works.

Hi @Rita_Wang ,

Thanks for your confirmation. So it seems that with the crisis of electronics components, especially the recommended PCA9450C, we have no other option than waiting.

Regards,
Khang

You can also consider the solution do not use the PMIC, use the discrete power supply for every power for the i.MX8MP, make sure to follow the power sequence.
