We are just starting out on a new project with the i.MX283. Can someone give me some idea about what power consumption we can expect from this processor, running at the slowest possible clock rate, including the power from the DRAM which seems the largest single contributor? Our board will also be running a 320x240 pixel color TFT LCD. The processor will be running WinCE.
Hi Julian,
I measured the power consumption on Freescale i.MX28EVK (with i.MX287 processor) with Nucleus RTOS. It was taking 87mA at 454MHz CPU clock and ~25mA at 1MHz CPU clock. These numbers comes with disabling the DRAM clock and put it in self refresh mode when system is Idle. Otherwise, power consumption increases to 50mA if we don't turn off DRAM clock in idle state.
Note that these numbers are without LCD. As Freescale i.MX28EVK has different resolution screen (800 x 480) than the one you are using so it would have different power consumption.
I hope these numbers can help.
