Since v6 there is a different behaviour with the update process compared to v5. v6 cant be used within our network as a because of the tool changes along with our companny restrictions. v5 worked well.
In v6 and windows 7 before using the tool with no admin permissions, the tool has to be updated ones with admin permissions, than the cached data can be used to open/save new cpu-profiles.
In v6 and windows 10 iam not able to start a new design because no CPU-profile can be loaded.
Hello Martin Stelter,
There are a couple of alternatives, one would be connecting to the internet temporarily on another network and downloading the required processor data. Another would be downloading them on a different computer with the Pins Tool and Internet access and exporting the data so that it can be imported on the computer without internet access.
You can see how to do this on the Pins Tool User Guide (link below)
https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/user-guide/IMXPINSGSUG.pdf
If neither of these options are feasible you may open a case requesting this information so that the processor information can be exported and sent to you.
My apologies for the inconvenience. I hope this helps!
Regards,
That sounds like a workarround for me. To clarify, i see an issue in v6 handling internet connection based on proxy. Maybe proxy seetings are not used correctly in v6.
I wish someone can look into v6 and fix it.
Hello Martin Stelter,
I have made an inquiry regarding the repository and proxy settings for the Pins Tool V6. I will let you know as soon as I have more information.

Hello Martin Stelter,
The reply we received is that there is no difference between v6 and v5 in how the online data download is handled. We'll check with them if Windows10 as OS can have any impact.
Regards,
Yes please do so. As descriped here there are more customer with the issue: https://community.nxp.com/thread/465340
Hello Martin Stelter,
A similar issue has been encountered previously and in order to fix it a change it <install-dir>/bin/tools.ini is needed, from:
-Dcom.nxp.restapi.server=https://mcuxpresso.nxp.com
To:
-Dcom.nxp.restapi.server=http://mcuxpresso.nxp.com
If this does not solve the issue, would you please share the logs from C:\Users\<username>\.nxp\swtools.log?
Regards,
Yes this works. I tested with the new version v7.
Will this be implemented in a new version so we dont need to change this manually?
