Hi all,

We consider the use of IEEE1588 for time synchronization in the Ethernet function.

We know i.MX6Q datasheet(MAC) is written as supporting IEEE1588.
To use IEEE1588, should external PHY-IC support IEEE1588 function also not only i.MX6Q?

Also if PHY-IC should support IEEE1588, do you know recommended PHY-IC product other than "AR8031"?

Best Regards,

Satoshi Shimoda

Hi Satoshi

yes, external PHY-IC should also support IEEE1588 function.

You can use any RGMII PHY-IC, since this is standard interface.

Freescale cannot recommend one supplier over another and does

not suggest that this is the only phy supplier.

Best regards

igor
