Options available for customizing the SPL on the iMX6ULL?

Hello, Regarding secondary program loaders (SPL)...

What options are available for customizing the SPL on the iMX6ULL?

What NXP design tool suite is recommended for customizing the SPL? And, on this recommended design suite - is there a default SPL provided that can be used as the baseline for customizations?

It is through the SPL that preferrenced pin mux selections can be made on the iMX6ULL, correct? I've downloaded i.MX Pins Tool v3.0 and can create the .mex files - and, I'm ready for the next steps, whatever they are toward customizing iMX6ULL pin configuration?
