Hi all,

We've a NXP i.MX 8M PLUS PEVK board.

The board normally starts with its emmc, penguins on hdmi screen. But if a debug console (tried putty and teraterm) is set up, there's no debug at all.

Computer is W7 64 bits.

Last USB drivers from Ftdichip have been installed on computer (Virtual COM port (VCP) drivers). Pilots are signed FTDI 05/07/2021 V2.12.36.4.

USB connector of computer is connected to J23 of the board (Micro USB C connector).

When debug cable is plugged, 4 USB serial ports are created in devices manager.

If a serial console is connected on one or all of these ports, consoles open without failure. But when board is started, nothing appears in consoles.

Very curious... Obviously, i suspect driver but these are the recommanded good ones, it seems.

Any idea ????

Christophe

Issue found.

Screws that maintain IMX8 module on boards were not tighted. It was not visible at sight. But pressing module on board made debug console work. Now with screws firmly tighted, all work (debug console, reset and on/off buttons).

A pure problem of quality at NXP's factory. This board hasn't been QC passed, it's not possible. Shame.

Rgds,

Christophe
