The iMX8MP supports eMMC Flash 5.1, which means all of the eMMCs of this generation (5.1) are supported.
The eMMC is a serial memory and should be not a problem with the capacity as long as the memory meets the requirements of the processor.

The max lpddr4 and ddr4 is 8Gbyte.
