Maximum Current consumption for NVCC in I.MXrt

Hello,

   In I.MXRT 117x , the current consumption is shown by

Albert_Einstein_0-1689222318530.png

In I.mxRt series

N= 16 no  of pins

V =  The operating voltage of NVCC i.e 3.3

But how to calculate C and F for the equation?

1.Is C the value of bypass capacitor, which we place near the pin or is it something else?

2. Is the F is the clock frequency given to the peripheral ? What the max-min value I must consider?

Thank you

Hi,

I'm using i.MXRT1064 for one of my requirement. I need to calculate the current consumption for NVCC-EMC, SD0, SD1 and GPIO.

Mentioned CL is 3.8pF, but in datasheet this load capacitance value not mentioned anywhere in i.MXRT1064 datasheet. Please provide the reference for this capacitance value to calculate the required current.

@Omar_Anguiano

There is one more parameter in i.mx Rt datasheet called as IOCT which 100mA.

Albert_Einstein_0-1691736083985.png

1.Does this parameter has relation with NVCC?

2.Can I consider this as maximum rating of NVCC line?

3.Please help me understand what this parameter mean?

Thank you,

Regards

1. Yes, a bank is the group of pins supplied by a specific NVCC line, e.g. NVCC_EMC_B1.
2. Correct. To be more complete the maximum current of the IOs from a bank.

Omar

Hello I hope you are well.

The C value depends on what you have connected to the GPIO pins. This is a value that varies depending on the specific application. F states for the GPIO toggle rate.
You might use the datasheet CL value from the IO parameters.

I will share with you an example from a SEMC calculation taking 16bit SEMC+IS42S83200B @166M as an example.

Imax=16 x 3.8pF x 3.3v x (0.5x166MHz)  = 16mA.

It can evaluate the IO power consumption by this formula, however, only CLK signals can reach to 166Mhz, other data signals don't have this high frequency, so this is a rough evaluation for IO power consumption, anyway, you can use this calculation as a approximative evaluation.

Best regards,
Omar
