MX8-DSI-OLED1 green color overlay

Hello,

I have an MX8-DSI-OLED1 connected to an i.MX8 MEK, and with both Yocto and Android I get green discoloration on (seemingly) exactly half the display. First, I thought this was some kind of configuration/software problem, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe the display is broken?

And all the correct graphics/pixels are there on the "green side" as well, but everything is discolored. I attached an image.

I  have 3 pcs of MX8-DSI-OLED. All have the same issue as half-green screen.

My environment list as below:

Hardware:  NXP MCIMX8M-EVKB

Firmware: android-11.0.0_2.0.0_image_8mqevk.tar.gz and android-11.0.0_2.6.0_image_8mqevk.tar.gz

I attached abnormal picture for reference.

How can I do?

Which version of BSP are you using? It seems that the system work well on your screen.

Cheers,

I've tried:

  • L5.10.72_2.2.0_MX8QM with fdt_file=imx8qm-mek-dsi-rm67191.dtb
  • Android 11.0.0_1.0.0_DEMO_8Q with -d mipi-panel
  • Built from source Android 11.0.0_2.6.0 (Linux 5.10.72 kernel), also with -d mipi-panel when creating the image.

All show the same color error.

It seem that the system work well, and the screen is broken.

So you can apply to change to one new screen to try.

Yes, I think so. I sent an RMA to the distributor and will reply with updates to this thread.

Attached is a picture of the Android half-green screen as a curiosity

Hi mglonnro

We also encountered the same problem. Did you solve it later?

Hi @zwj ,

Please verify if your panel has a back sticker or legend with MX8-DSI-OLED1A part number. The OLED1A is a new revision of the display and it should be supported by an rm67199 device tree.  I have used this new panel with our Linux BSP and that solved the green screen issue.   Example below:

Cheers,
