Hello NXP team, 

We are using a part MIMX8MQ6CVAHZAB in our design. 

We have a use case of 4 Camera Decode (1080p30) +  Compute (Offloaded to AI Accelerator) + CPU Post processing (overlay / bounding box) + Composite view to the display.

Along with the above use case if the encoding is also required, do you have any recommendations of an SoC in the iMX8 Family?

i.MX8QM - It is an high rated processor. 

i.MX 8M Quad or i.MX 8M Plus Quad out of this two processor any one can meet our requirements?

i.MX8MP is better. It has NPU for machine learning task. 2 x MIPI-CSI could connect two cameras. Other cameras could connect via Network (IP cameras to GB Ethernet on 8MP) and USB could connect one.

We need to know the some more information on our use case.

Use Case :  

  1. Max Decode :
    1x1080P60 (H265 & H264)
    2 x 1080P30 (H265 & H264)
    4 x 1080P15 (H265 & H264)
    4 x 720P30 (H265 & H264)
  2. Max Decode :
    1x1080P60 (H265 & H264)
    2 x 1080P30 (H265 & H264)
    4 x 1080P15 (H265 & H264)
    4 x 720P30 (H265 & H264)

 

  1. Compute (Offloaded to AI Accelerator) 
  2. CPU Post processing (overlay / bounding box) + Composite view to the display.

 

Can you please share the below details : 

Minimum DDR & eMMC size requirement with respect to the above mentioned use case.

It depends which OS will you using. There are Android and Linux BSP. And what kind of application will you run on your system to capture and compute the data. So it is better to buy the i.MX8MP EVK to develop and run your applications on it. It would more accurate to check how many memory and EMMC spaces will need for your use cases.
