Hi,

1. I am working on a custom board using im287 and linux-2.6.35.3

2. The NAND flash (MT29F1G08ABBDAHC-IT:D) and RAM (MT47H128M16RT-25E) are custom.

3. I have modified u-boot source and kernel source to support for my NAND chip.

4. The rootfs format is ubifs.

5. Right now by u-boot command-line, I upload the kernel image and rootfs by tftp. They can boot up

6. The problem is - I can only install u-boot by MfgTool.

7. If I try to install u-boot + kernel + rootfs the tool fails

8. I need some help for it so I can install all by MfgTool

Hi Aditya

for new nand it is necessary to rebuild Manufacturing firmware (updater_ivt.sb) please
refer to sect.2.8 "Building the Manufacturing Firmware" attached i.MX28_Linux_BSP_UG.pdf.

Follow procedure for adding a New NAND flash support to the BSP:
use the NAND datasheet to know ID bytes, timings, and dimensions of the NAND
flash. Add these parameters into the BSP source code.
MTD standard table is checked first by MTD: drivers/mtd/nand/nand_ids.c

Freescale BSP extended table is checked second

drivers/mtd/nand/nand_device_info.c

Also may be useful to check

hi igorpadykov,

1. My nand chip is detected and so I have replaced the .sb, uImage and rootfs in the Mfgtool folder.

2. But only u-boot stage is installed successfully the kernel and rootfs stage fails to be installed by the MfgTool.

3. Is there any changes ,i can make to the Mfgtool to burn the uImage and rootfs.

-Thanks

Hi Aditya

had you run ddr test for board and rebuild image for new ddr:

Board Bring-up and DDR Initialization Tools

There are no additional changes needed for mfg tool for recognizing new nand.

In general you can run image from sd and try to recognize nand.

Best regards
