Hi all,

My question is download the android version 5.1.1 failed.

My board is MCIMX6Q-SDB, it's a standard board.

sch version: sch-27516 REV C4

hardware version: 700-27516 REV B

When I used the mfgtools(android_kk4.4.2_1.0.0-ga_tools) to download official demo android4.4.2(android_kk4.4.2_1.0.0-ga_images_6qsabresd), it's OK.

Now, I use the latest mfgtools(IMX6_L5.1_2.1.0_MFG_TOOL) to download official demo android5.1.1(android_L5.1.1_2.1.0_image_6dqsabresd), but it's unsuccessful.

The phenomenon is after display Loading Uboot,Loading Kernel,Loading Initramfs,Jumping to OS image,it displays "No Device Connected", and it always stop on the interface——No Device Connected.

I found the new mfgtool(IMX6_L5.1_2.1.0_MFG_TOOL) is different from mfgtools(android_kk4.4.2_1.0.0-ga_tools), it adds many scripts, I choose the script "mfgtool2-android-mx6q-sabresd-emmc.vbs", it's content is:

Set wshShell = CreateObject("WScript.shell")

wshShell.run "mfgtool2.exe -c ""linux"" -l ""eMMC-Android"" -s ""board=sabresd"" -s ""folder=sabresd"" -s ""soc=6q"" -s ""mmc=3"" -s ""ldo=-ldo"" -s ""data_type="""

Set wshShell = Nothing

the file cfg.ini is:

chip = Linux

[platform]

board = SabreSD

[LIST]

name = eMMC-Android

I think the problem is the configure files cfg.ini and mfgtool2-android-mx6q-sabresd-emmc.vbs and ucl2.xml, but

I don't see any problem. If someone know it, please help me, thank you!

Attachment is the three file above and the serial port information.

Hi Ray,

I have tested it on my i.MX6Q-SDB board, and download the images to the EMMC. It works OK.

Here maybe you make mistake with the mfgtool. The mfgtool work according to the script ucl2.xml file. And in the IMX6_L5.1_2.1.0_MFG_TOOL version you can use mfgtool2.exe with proper configure files cfg.ini, or you can directly use the default with special functions mfgtool mfgtool2-android-mx6q-sabresd-emmc.vbs, and when you edit it you can see the configuration  as follow:

Set wshShell = CreateObject("WScript.shell")

wshShell.run "mfgtool2.exe -c ""linux"" -l ""eMMC-Android"" -s ""board=sabresd""  -s ""folder=sabresd"" -s ""soc=6q"" -s ""mmc=3"" -s ""data_type="""

Set wshShell = Nothing

If you use the mfgtool2.exe, you can configure the cfg.ini as above.

About another question on "No Device Connected", you need to wait some time to detect the device.
Have a great day,
Dan

Hi Dan,

     The problem is solved, my board work on Android 5.1.1 now. The reason is that the download line is wrong.

     I use the otg line download android 4.4.2, it's OK, but it can't download 5.1.1.  After change usual USB line, it can download 5.1.1 successfully.

     Do you know the reason?  Is something in 5.1.1 is changed?

Hi Ray,

I have never met the otg line problem, and I use the one work with many version of BSP, it's OK. And the Android 5.1.1 do not have special changes.

Maybe the line you use is broken or do not work well.

Have a great day,

Dan

Hi Ray,

I use the common usb-otg line. When you use the otg line in your above picture, can the board be detected? It means as you run the mfgtool does "HID-compliant device" appear?

Normal usb-otg line.jpg

Hi, Dan

     Yes, the "HID-compliant device" appear when use the otg line in my above picture, and it can't flash the android5.1.1.

But flash 4.4.2 is OK, so i hadn't think the problem is originated by the otg line.

Now, my otg line is the same as yours, a common usb-otg line, and it can flash 5.1.1 successfully. I don't kown the reason.

Hi Ray,

It's strange, if it can download the android 4.4.2 to your board successful so it can work on android 5.1.1, because no changes on this section. Here when you download the images to your board use your line, it always stop on the interface——No Device Connected ?

Have a great day,

Dan

Hi, Dan

     Maybe you can find an otg line like my above picture, and have a try that.

Hi Ray,

I have confirmed it for you. It's not recommend to use otg line to download images. Usb-otg line is OK. If you want to download the images to your platform, when you connect the usb-otg line to your board the board work on host mode and the usb interface use to download mode. But when you connect the otg line, the otg interface will work on high level and the board will be detected as device, so it can not be use to download images to board.

Have a nice day
