Issue with firmware flashing on i.MX6UL using MfgTool2

I am trying to flash the firmware on Digi ConnectCore 6UL board which is based on NXP i.MX6UL. Steps that I followed:

1) Edited ucl2.xml (attached) as per my board.

2) Edited cfg.ini file (attached)

3) Created sabreauto_files and sabreauto_firmware directory under Profiles\Linux\OS Firmware

4) Copied firmware files into the sabreauto_files directory.

5) Copied mfg tools Linux images into the sabreauto_firmware directory.

6) Set DIP switches on the board.

6) Ran MfgTool2 tool and started it. Here it got stuck and never completed the operation.

Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong here?

Thanks

Hi Igor

I was able to load the firmware images using MfgToo2 to RAM and boot u-boot. Could you please help in flashing the firmware images from u-boot prompt like which command to use and on which address to load?

sorry, could you clarify.  When using mfg tool no need to manually flash

from u-boot prompt. Mfg Tool is doing all automatically.

Hi Anupam

for using mfg tool it is not necessary to change files, just run

necessary *.vbs script, for example for emmc programming run

mfgtool2-yocto-mx-evk-emmc.vbs

Also for new board (or processor), recommended to run ddr test

and update Mfg Tool firmware (as it was built for i.MX6UL EVK)

as described on

Imx6ull buildroot flash with mfgtool

Hi Igor

I do not have EVK board. Can I still use the same vbs script for my ConnectCore i.MX6UL board or shall I use mfgtool2-yocto-mx-14x14-arm2-nand.vbs script?

Thanks

Hi Anupam

I think vbs script can be used, however mfg tool firmware was built for

EVK, so ConnectCore can hang without rebuilding for that particular board.

Some people used it for own boards :

Thanks Igor. I went through the document on how to rebuild Mfg tool firmware. https://community.nxp.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/399188-1-274211/How+to+rebuild+MfgTools+firmw...

But did not understand where should I get the code for it.

Thanks

Thanks igor for your response. I am trying to flash the nand using OTG cable. Is there any separate step that I need to follow?

Thanks
