Yes, you can disable 3 cores to test a solo environment using a quad core.
You can set the number of cores in U-boot kernel command (maxcpus=1).
Please take a look at Table 6 (Kernel Boot Parameters) of “i.MX_6Dual6Quad_Sabre-SD_Linux_Release_Notes.pdf”.
