HI ,

I am trying to play a .wav file using aplay , in IMX8MQ evaluation board with pre built images of 4.14.98 , i am getting the following error , when I use device WM8524 it uses SAI2

aplay -D plughw:0,0 /var/test.wav
[ 158.574166] fsl-sai 308b0000.sai: ASoC: can't open platform 308b0000.sai: -6
aplay: main:830: audio open error: No such device or address
#

When I use pre built images from 4.9.88 Ia m not getting the error

Can someone help me why ? whats the difference between 4.9.88 and 4.14.98 , do i need to add any patch or chnages when i use 4.14.98.

I am getting the same issue with my custom board .

Thanks and regards

Terry

Hi Terry

>whats the difference between 4.9.88 and 4.14.98..

one can look at link below, column "Supported Platforms/Demo Images"

https://www.nxp.com/design/software/embedded-software/i-mx-software/embedded-linux-for-i-mx-applicat...

In general recommended to use latest linux release.

Hi  Igor,

Thank you for the reply, the link says even 4.14.98 also supports Imx8MQ.

I have everything else works for me except the audio, If I change the kernel version to Linux 5.10.52_2.1.0 going to be redoing of my work which I had done so far for my custom board.

can you please provide with information , which could help me to make things work on 4.14.98.

I hope NXP would have tested 4.14.98 images in IMX8MQ , is there any know patches which need to be done for SAI for audio.

Thanks and regards

Terry
