IMX8MM evakit (8MMINILPD4-EVK) doesn't boot out of the box

Hi,

I received  this week two 8MMINILPD4-EVK kits and both of them are not booting to Android out of the box. According to serial terminal they tried to start Android, but booting fails and board reboots itself after a while. I also downloaded a new Android image (android_p9.0.0_1.0.0-ga_image_8mmevk.tar.gz) and I downloaded it to the board using serial download tool. It behaves a similar way and it didn't boot either. 

There seems to be a problem with this pre-built Android image. 

Maybe someone could help me and others?

Thanks for posting this Karl.

I have a similar issue on both of the EVKs we bought. Did not get to the trace yet. I did see a difference between the setting of the boot switches as is printed on the silk screen of the PCB and the getting started guide.

I have not been able to get mine to boot. Any suggestions would be helpful

I am having a similar issue.  I have rev C MX8M mini LP EVK with the SAS to HDMI adaptor connected to the DSI-MIPI connector on the board.  The preloaded Android image did not work.  I can see that Android boots on the serial console but there is nothing on the HDMI display.  I then tried loading a pre-build Android image onto the board using UUU and the scripts provided with the image.  The image loaded onto the board as expected, I then updated the u-boot environment variables as described in the documentation but there was still no image on the HDMI display.

I then tried flashing an SD card instead of the eMMC, same results.

Then I flashed the Linux image onto the SD card, configured the video in u-boot:

video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60

At this point when I boot the Linux image I get the Linux penguins on the HDMI display and then an Open Embedded splash screen while Linux is booting.  Unfortunately just before Linux finishes booting the display shuts off again.  THe display seems to shut off at the same time as the "Starting Weston Wayland Compositor (on tty7).." line appears in the console window.

I have spent a lot of time trying to get this working.  I would be very grateful for some assistance.

Can you please share the steps of how you downloaded the Android image into your boar?

This is because I do not have any problem booting the Android image in the i.MX8Mmini.
