Hi chum,

Did you flash the .sdcard image to your sd card using dd commands?

dd if=<your_image>.sdcard of=/dev/sdX

sdX refers to your sd card.

It seems that kernel cannot find your rootfs partition. After flashing, it should be in the ext4 partition.

Hi Vanessa,

I found problem, when i do dd if=<your_image>.sdcard of=/dev/sdX all files copied to sd card properly and when i load the yocto build demo M4 .img file both the cores working properly. to load i use this command

=> sf probe

=> sf erase 0x0 0x20000

=> fatload mmc 0:1 0x62000000 imx7ulp_m4_demo.img

=> sf write 0x62000000 0x0 0x20000

its working properly and A7 loads with linux, M4 with power_mode_switch application.

A7_M4.PNG

------------------

Error case:

I'm following this link to build freeRtos image -How to build and flash a bootable image for Cortex-M4 on i.MX 7ULP - i.MXDev Blog

To build .img i run - ./mkimg.sh flash

=> sf probe

=> sf erase 0x0 0x20000

=> fatload mmc 0:1 0x62000000 sdk20-app.img

=> sf write 0x62000000 0x0 0x20000

A7 problem occur like below:(M4 working as expected)

A7_M4_error.PNG

SDcard image used : core-image-base-imx7ulpevk-20190129083130.rootfs.sdcard

uboot from RAW partition, linux image from FAT partition, root file system from ext4 partition

Hi chum,

This occurs as the M4 image you loaded (Hello World) does not provide all needed configuration to boot with A7.

The SDK demo that provided the needed power initialization to boot A7 along with M4 is the power_mode_switch (the same as provided by Yocto build).

Another option is to boot the board in Single Boot mode. In this mode, A7 kicks M4 and does not expect the initialization from M4 anymore and you can run the Hello World demo along with A7 + Linux. For Single Boot mode procedure, please see i.MX 7ULP Heterogeneous Architecture and Different Boot Modes - i.MXDev Blog .

Best,

Vanessa
