IMX6Q PWM frequency is not correct

hi,

   I have a problem with imx6q pwm. 

I use 

echo 0 >/sys/class/pwm/pwmchip1/export

echo 100 >/sys/class/pwm/pwmchip1/pwm0/period

echo 50 >/sys/class/pwm/pwmchip1/pwm0/duty_cycle

echo 1 >/sys/class/pwm/pwmchip1/pwm0/enable

I set pwm period is 100ns, duty_cycle 50ns, means that the pwm frequency is 10MHz, duty is 50%, but the oscilloscope shows the pwm frequency is 11MHz, and when the period is 92-100, the frequency is always 11MHz, when the period is 90, the frequency is 13.2MHz. 

why is that? I check the pwm clock ,is 66MHz.

Hi Zhongjiang,

I assume you are using a custom board, is that correct? What BSP are you using?

Hi Carlos,

     Yes, I designed a custom board. And I use L3.14.5.

     Depends on my project, I need GPIO1 to output a 12MHz, 50% square wave.

     Here is the pwm driver. I found there is no imx6 in this file, but imx6 pwm register offset address is the same as imx27, so I assume it's fine.

Hi,

you mean L3.14.52_1.1.0_ga, is this correct? You can check PWM Driver in chapter 48 on the Linux reference Manual (attached). You must also check that general clock settings and that PWM registers are being configured correctly.

     I check the pwm clock setting in .dts file, it shows that:
