I.MX8M Plus EVK OS

Dear all,

May i know what is the Linux distribution that is in the eMMC of the I.MX8M Plus EVK? It says NXP i.MX Relesae Distro 5.4-zeus, seems like yocto. But as far as i know yocto is not a Linux distribution, but a tool to configure the Linux distribution. So in such a case, what is the Linux distribution that is in the EVK?

Is there any support for Debian OS on i.MX8M Plus?

Thank you.

Regards,

Tee

Hi Igor,

Thank you for your fast reply

I see the link is for Ubuntu. We are more on looking for Debian if possible. Is there any information on Debian?

What's is different between install arm ubuntu or debian ?

Here is the link, it is for docker. But inside the document has description how to install arm ubuntu from 0.

not just get a rootfs, who has finished the installation. Linux the document

" 3. Download ubuntu rootfs
$ mkdir ~/rootfs && cd ~/rootfs
$ wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-base/releases/16.04.6/release/ubuntu-base-16.04.6-base- arm64.tar.gz

"

It is from zero.

You do the same for debian.

And install a ubuntu or debian, technically is not part of i.MX.

Hi @BiyongSUN ,

The reason i ask for it is because after i study the post below

https://community.nxp.com/t5/i-MX-Processors-Knowledge-Base/Build-Ubuntu-For-i-MX8-Series-Platform/t...

It seems like there are something need to be done in order for the VPU/GPU to work correctly in Ubuntu. I wonder whether the same thing will happen when i try to boot I.MX8 on Debian. I would like to do some research first before i conclude that we can use Debian on I.MX8, and yet end up with some feature not supported.

Hope you understand. Thank you.
