How to use the Parallel NOR-Flash on iMX6-based Sabre AI Quad

Hello,

i am trying to use the parallel NOR-Flash on the iMX6-based "Sabre AI Quad" - Platform. The Schematic-plan says that there has to be a 32MB-Parallel-NOR-Flash "sized for bootloader and Kernel Image". So my goal is to store both of them on this flash-memory.

Unfortunately, i can´t find any hints or instructions how to use it, neither in any manual/reference guide, nor anywhere else (IMX Community, Google, ...)

What Tools/Drivers do I need to be able to flash the memory? Can anyone tell me how to use it?

Thank you very much in advance.

You need to use the MTD drivers, for CFI nor flashes. Both Linux and uBoot support that. Take a look at e.g. http://www.linux-mtd.infradead.org/index.html for some information. Do a search on the internet for how to configure and use. Some info is present here also (related to powerpc): http://www.freescale.com/infocenter/index.jsp?topic=%2FQORIQSDK%2F2151479.html. Don't remember all the details as it is at least 7 years since I was in contact with MTD, but it's not that difficult.

Hi,
I'm also working on this board ,and I have the same request than you.
In the documentation ,i'have only find " How to Boot from WEIM(Parallel) NOR" but not "how to write in the Parallel NOR .."
I hope someone from Freescale ,could help us..
Thank you...

Hello , where did you buy this SABRE Board ? I cannot find it on the Freescale web side ?
Are you engaged with an NDA with Freescale ?
