How to start i.MX design ?

Hi,

We are working with 32bit microcontrollers (Kinetis, Coldfire...)

and 16/32bit DSC (like 56F84xx). So, we have no experience with

"big" processor design. Whenever we can, we use MQX OS.

I would like to investigate: how to start design based on

i.MX5 and i.MX6 devices and some available operating system. I may use

Windows Embedded Compact, Embedded Linux or Android.

What should I do first ? How about starting with some reference

platform ? How to get and use BSP for hardware platform and

operating system ?

Please advice.

Thanks for help

Maciek

I would suggest to start with set Mcimx53 start-R it is available completely all the background information

, as well all of the source data for a quick start of the study and is the budget version

What about toolchain ? We are using CW Pro - but I can't see any support for i.MX architecture.

How the general workflow look like (in a few words) ?

yes it does not support Cade Warrior, you can use either iar or GCC.

Personally, I liked this board that it comes with a full Ubunta(sdcard4GB) and you can immediately see the potential of the processor was vga output.
