How to quickly upgrade to higher versions of the IMX8MQ development board? Which version supports dual screen display?
I am using ubuntu16.04. The original kernel version was 4.14.98, and the uboot version was uboot-2018.03; I received the kernel code (higher version) from the supplier, but he said that directly replacing the kernel to a higher version is not possible. I want to know why it is not possible? What are the specific differences between kernel versions 4, 5, and 6?
If it's just uboot, kernel, mkimage, and file system, how should it run on the development board as a whole? What exactly is the mkimage file?

The quickly way is to download the 6.6.3 version of the BSP and get the Linux user guide, there is a section of dual screen.

we downloaded the L6.6.3_1.0.0-MX8MQ package and the IMX-LINUX-USER_GUIDE user guide, but found that the L6.6.3_1.0.0-MX8MQ package appears to have been compiled.

But we are currently using the supplier's development board, not the official IMX8MQ EVK board;
