How to enable "perf" utility in Linux 3.0.35

HI All,

I'm using i.MX6Q processor in my project with linux 3.0.35 kernel code.

I need to use "perf" performance analysis tool for measuring CPU performance.

In kernel config, HAVE_PERF_EVENTS, PERF_EVENTS, HAVE_PERF_EVENTS_NMI are enabled still I'm not able to use "perf" command once linux prompt comes up.

Please any one let me know how to enable this feature or any extra configuration to be done in linux 3.0.35 kernel to use this tool.

Thanks and Regards,

Nithin
