Google map can't show in android 5.1.1(i.mx6q)

Hi All,

     We are using i.MX6DL/i.MX6Q with the same board running Android 5.1.1(Kernel 3.14.52) to run google map, but find that only i.MX6DL platform can show the google map while i.MX6Q platform can't, following is the failed picture(picture 1-1).

     To analyse the potential reason, we have taken some works as below:

     1. Install the newest google frame; (picture 2)

     2. Update the google play service:

         2.1) 12.6.85(020300-197041431);

         2.2) com.google.android.gms_12.8.66_(020300-200774163)-12866006_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(nodpi)_apkmirror.com

     3. Attempt different  version of google map

        3.1) com.google.android.apps.maps_9.67.0-967002132_minAPI19(armeabi-v7a)(213,240dpi)_apkmirror.com

        3.2) com.google.android.apps.maps_9.67.0-967002142_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(213,240dpi)_apkmirror.com

        3.3) com.google.android.apps.maps_9.80.2-980200142_minAPI21(armeabi-v7a)(213,240dpi)_apkmirror.com

Hi, I know this thread is 2 years old now, but we're seeing similar issue.  What was the resolution?

Same problem whappen in IMX6q in Android 7.1.1...

But I tried to install 9.57.1, the satellite map and POI able to show. The road map still won't able to show. 

Any advice?

Hi Hao,

By 9.57.1 do you mean the gms package? If so can you post the gms package or a link to them?

Our R&D wants to replicate the problem and does not see it, and wants the files to see if it is some error in them.

9.57.1 mean the Google Map Version, which I downloaded from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/maps/maps-9-57-1-release/

And the OpenGapps built-in version(Latest version in 2018 Dec 12), it will not showing any layer of maps(Showing like Jimmy's image).

Hi, Does this app still works? Because I have the same issue.

The most likely cause of the issue is that you use the OpenGapps package, that is not guaranteed to work on all Android builds, instead of the official Google Apps package. Try the later Android build.

Hi Artur,

     As your suggestion, we tried android 5.1.1, android 6.0.1 and android 8.0.0, but found that i.mx6q still couldn't show google map in default mode, while i.mx6dl did.

    In android 8.0.0 running in i.mx6q, we can browse the google website.

    Is there any potential fault that we haven't taken?

Hi Artur，

           In Android 5.1.1,our customer need to use Google maps,but it only show correctly in imx6DL while it couldn't show street in imx6Q.   IMX6DL and IMX6Q use the same bsp code.Please give us some ideas to fix this bug.

          The Google framework we test OK in other Android5.1.1 machine.

          Hope you can help us to solve the problem ASAP.

     As our customer appointed that they must use android 5.1.1 as their end customer required.

     Now, our customer hasn't resolved the problem yet, but the end customer will come to their company to fix the problem soon.
